1970: Lovesick Japanese Man Hijacks Plane With Toy Gun


HAMAMATSU, Japan, Aug. 19 (UPI). — An apprentice cook who wished to destroy himself or be shot down by police hijacked a Japanese jet with a toy pistol currently.

He was captured two hrs later on right after he forced the American-constructed plane to land at an air force base.

Police rushed aboard the aircraft and grabbed the younger aerial pirate when he permitted a pregnant lady in labor pains to depart the plane parked at the finish of a military runway.

Police recognized the hijacker as Sachio Inagaki, 24, and explained he had a record of two arrests for theft. None of the 74 genuine passengers and 6 crew members aboard the Boeing-727 was injured.

Police explained Inagaki, a thin guy who wore white gloves in the course of the incident, advised them he ordered the pilot to land at a Japanese air force base in an try to exchange the passengers for a rifle with which to shoot himself.

“I did not want to dwell any longer,” police quoted the guy. “I could not get my personal lifestyle so I believed of hijacking a plane.”

Inagaki explained the lady with whom he had been residing had left him, and that is why he wished to die.

“I asked the pilot to deliver the aircraft down to Hamamatsu base simply because I believed in exchange for the release of the passengers I could get a rifle and use it to commit suicide or else I could be shot at by police and be killed. I had no intention of hurting the passengers.”
