England v Australia: Joe Root left out of T20 squad, integrated in ODI workforce

 

England Check captain Joe Root has been left out of the T20 squad for the 3-match series towards Australia but will return for the 3 a single-day internationals, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated on Monday.

All-rounder Ben Stokes, who missed the final two Check matches towards Pakistan to go to his father who was diagnosed with brain cancer, has been omitted from the two squads.

Opening batsman Jason Roy, who missed the T20 series towards Pakistan due to a side strain, has been left out of the T20 squad but will stay with the squad as he bids to recover for the ODI series.

Batsman Jos Buttler and quickly bowlers Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Mark Wood have been named in the two squads.

“These two series towards Australia present an interesting finish to the summer season. We have chosen powerful squads. We are also continuing to build depth in planning for the approaching T20 Globe Cups,” nationwide selector Ed Smith stated.

The 3-match T20 series will be played at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, with the initial game scheduled for Friday. The 3 ODIs get spot from Sept. eleven-sixteen at Outdated Trafford in Manchester.
