Comedian Sunil Pal apologises for his defamatory comment on doctors, says 'didn't intend to hurt anyone'


New Delhi: Ace comedian Sunil Pal discovered himself in difficulty right after an FIR was lodged towards him for creating a ‘defamatory’ comment on health professionals amid the COVID-19  surge. The FIR towards filed by the Andheri police on Tuesday on the basis of a complaint by Dr Sushmita Bhatnagar, head of the Association of Health care Consultants. 

Just after the situation was registered towards him at Andheri Police station, Mumbai, the actor apologised for his statement. Sunil Pal mentioned, “I did not intend to indicate that for every single health care provider. I did say it for a couple of, but if it has harm anybody then I am sorry for my statement.”

In accordance to PTI, Sunil Pal created the alleged derogatory remarks towards health professionals for the duration of a demonstrate on an enjoyment channel, as stated in the complaint. 

In her statement to the police, Dr Bhatnagar mentioned final month she came across a video on social media in which Pal is observed creating derogatory remarks towards health professionals.

Dr Bhatnagar also accused Pal of creating derogatory remarks towards frontline wellbeing staff.

Pal, in the video, is heard saying, “Medical practitioners are a kind of God, but 90 per cent of the health professionals have taken an evil kind, and are fraud. Bad folks are becoming frightened in the title of COVID all day, they are humiliated and harassed by saying there are no beds, no plasma, no medication, no this, no that.”

The police have booked Pal beneath IPC sections 505-II (statement conducting mischief) and 500 (punishment for defamation), the official informed PTI.
